Running GOG version of Oblivion installed through Lutris. Noticed an issue when running Oblivion through Mod Organizer, even if installed in same prefix, background music would not work (sound effects do), while everything works fine when running Oblivion through Lutris. To fix this, did the following:

  • installed Oblivion through Lutris
  • re-configured Oblivion's “executable” path to point to MO2 installer
  • installed MO2 normally, then re-configured Oblivion executable to point to ModOrganizer.exe
  • set Wine version to Proton Hotfix (while still using runner=wine) System (v10.6 as of writing this)
  • start MO2 and complete setup (portable instance, start managing Oblivion, connect Nexus etc)
  • test-launch Oblivion through MO2 - it should launch but without background music
  • close Oblivion and MO2, then set Wine version in Runner options back to default wine-ge-8-26-x86_64 > save
    • later switched to GE Proton (latest) since wien-ge gave slightly weird mouse-acceleration and comes with a shitty barebone filebrowser where it's not even possible to sort by name or date and thus hard to browse for mod files

This way, can launch MO2 through Lutris and Oblivion/OBSE through MO2 with sound working normally.

Oblivion Script Extender (OKSE)

Used v1.2.416 - first extracted obse_0021.zip in Oblivion folder, then replaced obse_loader.exe with the GOG version (second link). Can use OBSE Tester to verify OBSE is working.

Walkblessed Camera

Config:

  • by default, the 3rd person camera is offset to shoulder view and also snaps to different heights when drawing or sheathing weapons or when sneaking. To change those offsets, play around with the following settings in OBSE/plugins/Walkblessed.ini:
    • fDrawn3rdCamXOffset=0
    • fDrawn3rdCamYOffset=0
    • fDrawn3rdCamZOffset=20
    • fSheathed3rdCamXOffset=0
    • fSheathed3rdCamYOffset=0
    • fSheathed3rdCamZOffset=5
  • there seems to be typo in DiableFlyCam=true, but not sure what this does, so left it at that

scrapped - Camera Commands, which this mod relies on, is only available shared on upload sites as mediafire, just includes a dll with no documentation which is shady, and its functionality seems to be incorporated in Oblivion Reloaded, which in turn seems to be superseded by Oblivion Reloaded Combined which is a whole other can of worms.

Populated Prisons

This mod populates the prisons in the cities of Cyrodiil. There is a 50% chance for a prisoner to spawn in a cell. The prisoners have their own greetings, which may give clues as to why they are in prison, while others will simply talk… In the prison you'll find everything from Vampires, lunatics, ghosts, drunkards, rapists and murderers.

An adaptation of Alenet's Oblivion Reloaded. This version places an emphasis on delivering a polished shadow system and immersive lighting changes.

  • start with a clean oblivion.ini file (best obtained using the launcher)
    • if launching with clean oblivion.ini from MO2 crashes immediately, verify that SArchiveList=Oblivion - Invalidation.bsa, Oblivion - Meshes.bsa, Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa, Oblivion - Sounds.bsa, Oblivion - Voices1.bsa, Oblivion - Voices2.bsa, Oblivion - Misc.bsa
  • launch game and set the following video config:
    • Texture Size = Large
    • Fades = Max
    • View distance = Max
    • Distant objects (land, buildings, trees) = On
    • Shadows on grass = On
    • Tree Canopy Shadows = On
    • (skip interior and exterior shadows since E3 brings its own shadow system)
    • Shadow Filtering = High
    • Specular Distance = 100%
    • HDR Lighting = On
    • Bloom Lighting = Off
    • Water Detail = High
    • Water Reflections = On
    • Water Ripples = On
    • Window Reflections = On
    • Blood Decals = High
    • AntiAliasing = Off (not supported when using HDR)
